Precision Blasting negotiated a lump sum contract with Crawford Grading and Pipeline to provide all required blasting for sewer pipe installation on the Smith Station Sanitary Sewer Outfall Line.  We found excessive amounts of ground water and mud while test drilling to quantify rock and determined sleeving the boreholes with PVC pipe would be the best approach to ascertain all rock was broken down below desired grade.  The work proceeded once quantities were determined and agreed upon. Safety measures and procedures were in place throughout this project to minimize any potential damage exposure to the surrounding residential area.  The blasts were kept small (between 50 to 100 feet in length) to keep vibrations down.  Large rubber tire mats were also used to eliminate any risk of fly rock.  Vibra Tech Engineers helped with seismic monitoring of blast vibrations and performed pre-blast inspections on adjacent homes.  The job was completed in a timely manner.
